Cacao Ceremony 101

Cacao Ceremony

Cacao is our sacred sacrament. Cacao and ceremony come hand in hand.

At Sacred Earth Cacao, we believe in living intentionally and with gratitude. Ceremony is a time to open up ritual space. It gives us the setting and much needed time to look deeply within so that we may remember what is really important. We are able to take a step back from our daily concerns and look at the big picture.

In my own personal practice with Cacao, I have come to realize that it’s entheogenic feel good effects are much stronger when combined with intention, gratitude and good music.

How to Hold Your Own Morning Cacao Ritual:

Starting your own morning cacao ritual can help you to integrate intention, gratitude and an appreciation for ceremonial space into your life. We recommend taking just a couple minutes before you drink your morning cup to put a little blessing on it.

Take a couple deep breaths as you smell your delicious cup of chocolaty goodness and then practice gratitude by thanking the Cacao for the uplifting effects that it has. Take a moment to give gratitude to the land where the cacao is grown and to the indigenous people and culture who have made this gift of cacao available to us. Think of anything else in your life that you have to be thankful for nothing is too small or too big. Then consider your intention for the day, the week, the rest of your life, or even just this moment.

Questions to Ask Yourself

How would you like to feel?

What kind of person would you like to be?

What kinds of things and energies are you wanting to attract into your life?

What would you like to let go of and leave behind?

Taking just a minute to do this can bring a lot of peace and clarity into your life. Once you are finished you will be ready to enjoy your delicious morning beverage.

Make it Your Own

This is only a suggestion for how to hold your own morning cacao ritual. You can do whatever practice works for you. What is most important is that you do whatever works for you to take a peaceful moment for yourself before you drink your cacao. You could combine cacao with your morning yoga or meditation practice as a form of ceremony or mix it with any other embodiment practices that you do.
